The Stockton Theater opened in Stockton, CA in 1945, in spite of the war time restriction against private construction. The justification for the building was to increase moral of the port workers in the area. It's now a coffee shop in what Forbe's Magazine has called the "most miserable city to live in" in the U.S.A.
The Del Rio Theater, Riverbank, CA. Opened in 1948. Not sure when it closed. It was a restaurant for a while, then a bingo hall. It's not just an empty building. If you look inside the ticket booth, you can still see the money safe.
