The Roseway Theater, Portland, OR. Opened in 1925. This theater has undergone a few facelifts. Every few decades, they change the design of the rose and the signage.
The Avalon Theatre, Portland, OR. I have some conflicting information about this theater...I have heard that it may have been built in 1913 as the Sunnyside Theatre, which would make sense if you looked at the building and understood the construction of the day. However, the sign in the photo says "A Portland Tradition Since 1925." It could be that it became the Avalon in '25, or that could be when it was built. For now, that will have to remain a mystery.
Easy to miss if you're driving down Hawthorn in Portland, Oregon, the CineMagic is the latest incarnation of this theater, which opened as the Palm in 1914, then became the Star Hawthorne in 1934, then the Zephyr in 1937, the Plaza in 1938, the Fine Arts in 1957, the Columbia in 1987, and then CineMagic 1991.
