The St. John's Cinemas opened as the Venetian Theatre in 1926. In 1937, ownership of the theater changes hands and the theater was renamed "St. John's". In the 1960's, it was renamed the Northgate Theater, and with the next remodel in the '80's, the name was changed back to St. John's.
The Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR, opened as a vaudeville theater on July 17, 1926. Although it was allowed for years to fall into decline and disrepair, it has since been restored. After this photo was taken in 2012, a replica of the original marquee replaced the one seen here. Time to re-shoot...
The Elsinore Theatre in Salem, OR, was build in 1926. It was almost demolished in 1980 for the sake of a parking lot, but several citizens of the day came together and saved it.
